Sunnah Marriage in Islam | Types of Wives and Rights of Women

Islam is a religion that places a strong emphasis on the institution of marriage. Muslims believe that marriage is a sacred contract between a man and a woman that should be entered into with the utmost seriousness and care.

In Islam, marriage is not just a simple social arrangement but a sacred contract with profound legal and spiritual implications. Muslims believe marriage is a key part of achieving harmony and balance in their lives and a way to please Allah.

Islamic law contains several specific rights and responsibilities for husbands and wives, which are intended to create a fair and equal partnership.

Islamic marriages are also different in that they are often arranged by the bride and groom’s families rather than the couple. This ensures the couple is compatible and enters marriage with the right intentions.

Overall, marriage in Islam is taken very seriously and seen as a sacred and important contract.

How to Perform Sunnah Marriage Rituals

Several Sunnah marriage rituals can be performed to create a blessed and happy union. One of the most important Sunnah marriage rituals is the proposal, khutbahs. To propose marriage, the man must first approach the woman’s father and request permission. Once the father has given his blessing, the man can proceed with the Khutbah.

The Khutbah is a short speech in which the man declares his intention to marry the woman. He then asks for her hand in marriage. Once the woman has accepted, the man recites a prayer called the Ijab-e-Qubul. This prayer is recited by the man and witnesses as a formal declaration of marriage.

After the Ijab-e-Qubul has been recited, the man and woman are considered married. However, more Sunnah marriage rituals are performed to further bless the union. These include the exchange of gifts, the signing of a marriage contract, and the reading of the Quran.

Types of Wives in Quran and Hadith.

There are different types of wives mentioned in the Quran and Hadith. Some of them are as follows:

1. The wife who is a source of comfort and support for her husband:

The Quran says: “And among His signs is that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may find tranquillity in them, and He put between you love and mercy. Indeed, in that are signs for a people who give thought.”

(30:21)

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “The best of you are those who are best to their wives.”

2. The wife who is a source of blessing and barakah for her husband:

The Quran says: “And give the women [upon marriage] their [bridal] gifts graciously. But if they give up willingly to you anything of it, then enjoy it as something allowed to you.”

Tirmidhi

3. The wife who is a source of patience and perseverance for her husband:

The Quran says: “And they [wives] have rights similar to those [of husbands] over them in kindness, and men are a degree above them. Allah is Mighty and Wise.”

The Quran says: “And live with them in kindness. For if you dislike them – perhaps you dislike a thing and Allah makes therein much good.”

Basic Rights of Women in Islam

Islamic law, or Sharia, guarantees basic rights for women, including the right to life, the right to education, the right to freedom from torture and inhuman treatment, the right to marry, the right to own property, and the right to equality in the eyes of the law. Sharia also protects women in marriage, divorce, and child custody. In recent years, there has been a growing movement within Islam to promote and protect women’s rights. This movement has been led by both women and men who believe it is compatible with gender equality and women’s rights.

The Right in Islam to be Loved by your Husband.

It is often said that the most important thing in a marriage does not necessarily love but mutual respect. However, without love, marriage is often little more than a partnership of convenience, and it is hard to respect someone you do not love. In Islam, husbands and wives are enjoined to love one another, and this love is essential to a happy and successful marriage.

The Quran tells us that Allah Himself is the Most Merciful and Loving and that He wants us to show mercy and compassion to others, including our spouses.

Allah says in the Quran: “And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that you may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect.”

30:21

This love and mercy that Allah has put between spouses make a marriage successful and happy. Without it, the marriage will likely be little more than a cold and loveless partnership. So it is clear that the right of spouses to be loved by each other is a fundamental Islamic principle that should be given due importance in any Muslim marriage.

The Right in Islam of Companionship and Intimacy.

In Islam, companionship and intimacy are natural rights. Muslims believe that Allah has created humans as social beings and that we are meant to live in a friendly relationships with one another. Companionship and intimacy are essential to a fulfilling life, and Muslims are encouraged to seek out these relationships.

There are several ways in which companionship can be expressed. Muslims can enjoy close relationships with family members, friends, and strangers. Allah has greatly emphasized the importance of human interaction, and Muslims are taught to cherish and value these relationships.

Companionship and intimacy are important rights in Islam, and Muslims should strive to cultivate these relationships. By doing so, they can lead fuller, more satisfying lives.

Reasons Why Wives Need Rights

The institution of marriage has long been used to control women and their property. Over time, this has led to a situation where wives have few rights compared to their husbands. This is unfair and unjust, and it is time for wives to claim their rightful place in society.

There are many reasons why wives need rights. First and foremost, it is a matter of fairness and equality. If husbands have certain rights and privileges, wives should have the same. Additionally, wives need rights to protect themselves from abuse and exploitation. All too often, wives are subjected to physical, emotional, and financial abuse by their husbands. Without rights, they have no way to protect themselves.

Finally, wives need rights to be able to fully participate in society. Too often, wives are relegated to the background, seen as nothing more than the property of their husbands. This is not only unfair, but it also limits the potential of wives to contribute to society in a meaningful way.

It is time for wives to claim their rightful place in society. By fighting for their rights, they can help create a fairer and more just world.
